چکیده

This work considers a power control algorithm for cellular communications systems in which a user’s link quality objective, as measured by signal to interference ratio (SIR), varies with its transmitter power. In particular, as increased interference or reduced uplink gain leads a mobile to raise its transmitter power, that mobile lowers its SIR target. In this way, the likelihood of an infeasible power control problem in which users’ transmitter powers rise to maximum is reduced. This graceful degradation of the SIR is termed soft dropping. Convergence proofs for a soft dropping power control algorithm are outlined. Simulation results demonstrate performance improvements over fixed target SIR algorithms.

On the Performance of Sdma with Soft Dropping and Sinr Balancing Power Control in the Downlink of Multi-user Mimo Systems

The application of Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) to the downlink of future Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) mobile radio systems is a promising solution to achieve high spectral efficiency. Besides enhancing system capacity, Quality of Service (QoS) requirements must also be respected to ensure reliable communication. In this work, a new SDMA strategy called Soft Dr...

An Integrated System for QoS Provisioning in 3G WCDMA Cellular Networks

This paper proposes an integrated Power-based system for QoS provisioning in 3G WCDMA cellular networks. The proposed system comprises a QoS-profile aware Call Admission Control (CAC), a QoS-profile driven congestion control, and a reservation-less real cell boundary aware handoff prioritization mechanism. Both Congestion control and handoff prioritization incorporate user service degradation d...

Distributed Power Control for Cellular MIMO Systems with Temporal and Spatial Filtering

This paper concerns the uplink in a cellular MIMO system employing CDMA. Specifically, the problem of joint power control and interference suppression is considered, where filtering is jointly done in both temporal and spatial domains. Iterative algorithms are developed that converge to the globally optimum solution; we then shown how they may be implemented in a distributed context utilizing o...

Robust Performance of Soft Real-time Networked Control Systems with Data Dropouts

This paper derives the power spectral density(PSD) of the output generated by a discrete-time feedback control system in which feedback measurements are dropped with a known probability, ε . This class of systems is a model for soft real-time control systems in which the feedback path is implemented on a nondeterministic computer network. The PSD computed in this paper is a function of the drop...
